Earlier this month, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance was added to the DRM-free GOG storefront. However, as reported by PCGamer, the game is not available in Japan. Initially available for purchase on GOG in Japan for one hour on July 4, it was subsequently pulled. Konami clarified to Japanese outlet Game*Spark that the availability in certain Asian regions was due to an error by GOG.

The reason for the game's unavailability in Japan might be linked to its initial release, which was exclusive to the PlayStation 3 in Japan in 2013, though it launched on Xbox 360 and Steam in other regions. Konami has not officially explained this decision, but it's worth noting that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots also remains exclusive to PS3 consoles.
